MEET OUR TEAM
Dr. David May is a second generation Doctor of Chiropractic, following in the footsteps of his father. David saw his father change many lives by ridding his patients of pain, and decided to pursue the same path.
Dr. May completed his undergraduate pre-med studies at Life University in Marietta, GA. Afterwards, he entered the Doctor of Chiropractic program at the same university. David studied the Gonstead technique of chiropractic extensively and completed his certification in the technique in 1996.
Dr. David entered the practice after graduation, and has continued to enhance his education ever since. Most recently, Dr. David became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Medicine Specialist. This certification gives him a larger knowledge base and wider skill set to work with the unique needs of athletes. He is also a Certified Chiropractic Insurance Consultant. It's a big help for us to work more efficiently with your insurance company in terms of justifying medical necessity for treatment and writing your health records in a way that the insurance company processes best.
David loves spending time with his wife and 3 kids, and loves the great outdoors. He has an affinity for antique cars, is always working on a new project of some sort, and likes to fish whenever the opportunity arises.
Dr. Troy May is a second generation Doctor of Chiropractic. Achieving his doctorate from Life University in 1997, he is fluent in many different chiropractic techniques.
While in school, Dr. Troy served as an officer in the Life University Gonstead Study Club. He has completed over 150 hours of additional training through the Gonstead seminars. Dr. May is also well-versed in physiotherapy, and has completed 120 extra hours of education on the topic.
Most recently, he has pursued training in functional neurology. He completed over 450 hours of training through the Carrick Brain Institute, 350 of which were dedicated to diagnosing and treating Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). After completing board testing, he became certified by the American Board of Functional Neurology in Brain Injury Rehabilitation.
Troy, AKA Pappy, is a leader of several ministry groups and is very active in his church. He and his wife Denise love to spend time spoiling their granddaughter Layla, and enjoy virtually any outdoor activity.
Our Office Manager Denise May came on board in February of 2014. Her passion has always been helping people, and she enjoys welcoming new patients and catching up with long-time patients who feel like old friends.
Denise is a proud Hokie, who studied both Family and Child Development and Psychology at Virginia Tech. After that, her travels took her to Washington D.C., where she stayed a while and earned her Master's Degree in Christian Formation.
Her past fields of work have ranged from church ministry to working with at-risk teens to the mental health field, but none of those have proven to be as enjoyable and diverse as using her talents to help run the family business.
Denise is happily married to Dr. Troy. She loves spoiling children - especially her grandkids, enjoying the outdoors, and serving others. Ask her about meeting Pope John Paul II!
Also working to maintain an efficient and friendly office is Adam Mitchell. He has helped out behind the scenes on occasion since 2015, and now enjoys running the day to day operations of the office part of the year.
Adam studied Spanish and Music at Roanoke College, and is proud to be able to help connect Spanish speaking patients with our doctors in their native language.
Sing us a song, you're the PIANO MAN! In addition to running Virginia's only mobile dueling pianos company, he works for two major cruise lines as Musical Director and Piano Entertainer.
Adam enjoys traveling, swimming, and trying new foods from all over the world - especially Vietnamese. He's happily married to his high school sweetheart Liz, and they have a spoiled rotten calico cat named Medici who enjoys bird watching with the family.
