WELCOME TO OUR OFFICE!

Thank you for considering us for your chiropractic needs. We can't wait to meet you! Our family has been serving the Roanoke Valley from this location since 1985, making us one of Salem's longest standing clinics.

There is ample parking in our private paved lot with accessible parking also available. We offer a ramp to the front door and an accessible restroom, making our facility available to everyone.

We don't expect that you'll be waiting long, but we've carefully selected different types of seating for the waiting room to accommodate your back's preferences. Help yourself to a cup of green tea or some cold spring water while you wait.

Children are welcome in our office as patients or just coming with you to your appointment. The basket full of toys and books is always a hit with our younger patients!

Each doctor's treatment room is equipped with several types of chairs and tables to deliver adjustments. The most commonly used is the Hi-Lo table. The patient can simply walk up to the vertical table and it will lay them down into adjustment position and then back to standing when finished - great for patients in extreme pain or with limited mobility. There are also knee chest and flat tables, and Gonstead type cervical spine chairs for other methods of adjusting and therapies. We'll work together and find what works best for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

We ask that you plan about an hour for your first visit with us. When you come into the waiting room, you'll be greeted with a smile! We'll ask to copy your photo ID and insurance cards, and get you started on a short new patient information form.

After your paperwork is completed, the doctor will take a few moments to review it and then call you back to his office to begin your new patient examination. In most cases he'll have you sit in the cervical chair first. It's a regular height comfortable chair where the chair back can be adjusted or removed. You and the doctor will talk about your health history, treatment goals, and current condition before any further testing is done.

After you've gotten to know each other a bit, the doctor will begin to examine you using a combination of the 5 Gontead chiropractic examination criteria to determine where your pain is coming from. These tests are painless and usually pretty quick.

The doctor will explain what he believes the problem is and how he came to that conclusion based on the tests and results. He'll chat with you about what the different treatment options are and what he believes the best treatment plan would be for you.

After the plan of action is decided, you'll go over to one of the treatment tables for your first adjustment. The doctor will have already located and marked the exact areas for adjustment during the exam, so the adjustment itself is pretty quick.

After you've been adjusted, he'll let you know how your spine responded and when he'd like to treat you again. The number of treatments needed for optimal alignment varies from person to person and ranges from "One and Done" to several visits per week for a period of a month or two with decreasing frequency as you improve.

FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENTS

Follow up appointments are typically 10 - 15 minutes long. The doctor will begin by asking how you responded to the last treatment and how you're feeling. He'll then do some combination of the same testing to see how each area responded to the adjustments. He'll discuss how he thinks it best to move forward, whether that's to continue with the same treatment plan or change something up, and then deliver another adjustment if needed.
